Divots Concert
Divets Concert David Spangler
I went to a concert in Norfolk at Divets Event Center and I was in the front row jamming out to Tracey Byrd while he sings,’’Drink don’t drive do the watermelon crawl!’’ That is my favorite song in the whole universe. I first listened to it at a party in Ewing, Nebraska, it was one of the best times of my life. While I was at this concert I could smell beer, sweat, calone, cigarette smoke, and the smell of hay used for seats for some, but the smells didn’t bother me, I was interested in the music.
I saw a cool country dressed man singing country music right in front of my eyes, I saw thousands of people jumping, waving their hands, moving their lips while yelling to the lyrics, being fans just as I was, I saw tents for the beer garden and the gift auctions and the food hamburgers and hotdogs and chips and desserts of all sorts, there was games and tractors and new pickups on show that was another thing I was stareing at because you see, I’m a redneck boy like my brother Andy and others I saw there. I heard country music, the kind that makes you feel bullet proof and gets you ready for a rodeo, I heard the cheers of others around me so hiped up to actually be there at that concert standing in front of a famous person. At one point of time I could hear thing older kid yelling louder and louder, David, David, DAVID! It was my oldest brother, Andy, I was so happy to see him there and some of his friends I knew were there too, I walked over there slowly as to look calm but actually I was so hyper I thought I was going to explode, but when I got to him he just said,’’hey lil’ bro’ what’s up?’’ I shrugged and he chuckled as we walked over to a empty tent and talked between his friends and I. That night as I sit by the fire back at the camp sit at Woodland Park I thought, how could this day have been any better……….
