My Forbidden Fruit- A Vampire Love Story
Prologue
It was about time he found her. The hunted had became the hunter. The darkness in his eyes perhaps was what gave him away. Or maybe it was the blood thirsty stare he struck upon her. She lurched towards him, but he matched her leaps with specials of his own. Each punch and kick she enmeshed were doubled back by his force. He was moving so fast, she stopped to catch her breath. Big mistake on her part. In the blink of an eye, his mouth was at her throat. He could hear the slightest whimper of fear in her voice, as he nibbled at her hollow.
“P..p..please don’t kill me. I’ll tell you everything, just...just let me live,” she pleaded. About time she cooperated, he thought. He loosened his grip on her arm.
“So. Paul Sims. What do you know about him?” he asked casually.
“W…who? Don’t know the name,” he tightened his grip at her obvious lie.
“Are you sure about that beautiful?” he began to stroke his fingers along her neck, warming the blood underneath her olive skin. “I think you may be lying. What about the fact that you were employed by Mr. Sims two years ago at a cancer facility?”
“Uh…” she hesitated as his teeth nibbled down deeper, “Okay, he was my boss. Your right about the facility. It wasn’t really a cancer facility, though.”
“Well, what kind was it?” he asked, smiling at the smooth answers she was giving.
“Hum… it was a… uh… training facility,” she answered hesitantly again barely whispering out the last few words, “They trained… We trained hunters… to kill your …kind.” Just as he expected. “So your going to kill me now?” she asked, as tears began to warm her tear ducts.
“Why would I commit such vile crime?” he asked .
“Well, since Sims will now track me down and kill me, why not you take the burden from him?”
He turned around and exited the alley, and marched out into the bright sunlight and on to the forgotten street.
ALICE
Alice Granger backed her piece-of-trash automobile out of the apartment parking lot. ‘Another day as a struggling college student,’ she thought, ‘just another day.’ She dragged her beat up Volts Wagon beetle bug down the lonely road. That’s when she saw him. Golden hair, dark hazel eyes, lean muscular body. His eyes locked hers, as he gallantly strolled out of the darkened mysterious alleyway. In his eyes she saw danger, and determination. His eyes seemed to lure her into his cold hard arms.
In the mist of her hypnotic stare, the sound of crushing metal and frequent screams, entered her ear drums, snatching her from her fantasy wanders. A pain jerked at her legs and a solid object banged her head. She felt the unconsciousness sweeping over her. She glanced in his direction, only to see the pain and horror enter his expression.
HADEN
Haden slipped from the dark gloomy depths of the alley, and walked into the bright morning sun. He glanced around, gathering an essence of his surrounding. Then he saw her. Beauty beyond compare. The way her auburn hair flowed around her face, and draped down to her shoulders. The way her bright blue eyes caught his devilish hazel. His eyes changed from admiration to horror as her old-school volts wagon refused to stop at the stop sign. A Ford Escalade made its way atop the hill, and smashed her small car. Her eyes read pain and fear. In the flash of a light, the same monster who attacked an innocent woman, seconds from draining her body, only minutes ago, is now pressuring himself to save the life of another.
He reached the car in only a few seconds, lifting the escalade from the bug. He carried the pale, bleeding angel from the trashed car, cradling her as if she was a sleeping baby. He jetted off in a run maintaining the same constant breathing, not dare moving the gentle lily he cradled tightly to his cold hard chest.
HER DREAM
Rolling over, the smell of dew and sunshine evaded her nostrils. She opened her eyes to see she was laying in a peaceful meadow. Trees lined the edge behind her, and deer and other creatures galloped to the crystal pond displayed in front of her. She laid her head backwards, and breathed in deeply. But her lungs refused to cooperate with her yearning brain. She began to panic. The bright blue sky turned gray, and the animals disappeared. She grabbed her neck, as if to open the tunnels and release her lungs from this strain. And as if summoned by God, the angel arrived and lifted her into his cold arms, giving her life. She could breathe once again. But he was so cold. He sent shivers through her. Her mind shook from the dream, and she struggled to open her eyes.
WAKE UP
Haden gently healed her pains. With a swift twist of his wrist, he mended her broken bones, and wiped away her blood stains. Oh its was so hard to resist the sweet smell of her. He knew if he only had just one taste, he’s bound to drink her dry. He lifted her into his arms, and placed her in his lap. He stroked her soft auburn hair from her porcelain face. She began to gasp, as if unable to retrieve air to her burning lungs. He panicked and began to attempt to wake her up. But just as he pulled her tighter to him, she began to grasp her neck, as if her dream had taken an unhappy turn. He lowered his face to her neck. Placing his lips to her warm hands, he blew lightly, and her lungs grasped air. Her hand let go of her neck, and she placed it to the back of his. Her eyes shot open, and she stared into his passionate eyes. She realized he was what cradled her from the pain. She lifted her vacant hand, and placed it on the other side of his cold neck. She lifted her lips to his, staring deeply into his eyes, as if her mind became his and they shared the same thoughts. He brushed his lips against hers breathing cool air into her lungs. She yearned for more. She started to press her lips to his, but his hands caught her. He laid his hand gently to her cheek and pushed her slightly away. He stared deeply into her eyes wanting her to understand his rejection. She lowered her head and glanced back up again locking her eyes with his. He felt her body give, and she fell forward onto his chest, and the unconsciousness engulfed her body once more.
UNCINSCIOUS AWAKENING AND
REGAINING GRASP OF REALITY
Her eyes barely slid open as her heart picked up pace. The fear of the darkness around her swarmed in her head. She began to panic, wheezing her lungs until she almost couldn’t keep pace with her mind. Then, as if magic, he lifted her head to see the brilliance of his face. He smiled gently, and caressed her cheek. She leaned into him, and smiled lightly.
“Where am I?” she asked breathlessly. He smiled tenderly, and took a look around them. She followed his eyes around. Her eyes began to adjust to the darkness.
“I call it home,” he exclaimed, smiling again at the strange look she was giving him as he stood to take a walk around.
“Who are you?” she asked with her forehead wrinkled, “how did I get here?”
“Well, you got here when I carried you from the wreck, and my name is Haden,” he answered casually, “Now are you done with the questions or can I ask a few?” she sat there for a minute or so, trying to understand him, so he decided to proceed with his questioning., “Now, what’s your name?”
“Hum, my name is Alice. Alice Granger. I’m a college student at Southern TECH. Finishing my last semester in May,” she replied as she got to her feet, and looked up to face him eye to eye.
“Do you feel that?” she asked. “The draw you have on me, and I believe I have on you?”
“Look, Ms. Granger. I don’t feel anything around you,” he replied knowing just as well as she did that they made each other feel complete. But he shouldn’t tell her that. It would only lead to tragedy.
She stood straight upward, and pressed her head to his chest, straining to hear his heart patter in beat with hers. And then she gave up.
“You have no heart beat,” she exclaimed, but didn’t move her head. He stepped away, and she almost fell over. She looked up at him, and turned her head to the side in attempt to understand. “Why does your heart not match the beating of mine?” she asked absently knowing the answer to her question the minute she asked it. He turned his back to her. He started to speak, but no words came. How was he going to explain that a vampire, a senile vampire saved her life, and was struggling not to fall for her. He stood there for a moment, and e felt her small arms wrap around his waist, and her leaned her head on his cold back. He turned and her head was once again on his chest. He took her chin, and lifted her eyes to look into his.
“ You really feel something huh?” he asked with a small laugh. She nodded her head yes, and he lowered his head to her shoulder and rested it there. He closed his eyes and listened to her steady heart beat, almost hearing his start up. She rested her head into the dip of his neck, pressing her lips to his ear.
“ You feel it too,” she whispered. He lifted his head and created space between them. She felt alone for that spilt second, when his hands let go of her waist. He turned and walked to a corner. He sat down and rested his head on his knees. She walked over and gently stroked the back of his neck.
“This cant be happening,” he said in a groan. He looked up, and stared into her bright baby blue eyes. She was so beautiful.
“What’s wrong?” she asked worryingly.
“ Alice, I’m a vampire,” he dug his head into his knees once more, as if ashamed of what he was, “I cant have what I feel I need, and neither can you. This can’ t work. Its as if I can read your mind. You crave the same things from me as I do from you. It just can’t be. It’s like an internal pull I feel with you. Like I need you to make me… complete.” He regretted it the second he said it. He vowed not to tell her how he really felt. He was just caught up in the moment where he had to tell her the truth.
“Haden,” she began, but was at a loss of words. She began to stroke the hairs on the back of his neck, soothing both their minds, “I… why can’t… I don’t understand.” He looked up, and he saw the confusion truly take over her mind. What on earth was wrong with him? He was falling for a mortal. A mire mortal. Not just lost in the essence of admiration, but the true feeling of true compatibility, of love. He took her hand, and left the one still at his neck. He kissed her olive skin hand, and moved his lips up he arm, and to her neck.
“ You just don’t understand,” he complained, “I’m so tempted. You’re my forbidden fruit.”
Chapter Two
Haden woke with an angel in his arms, he couldn’t let her stay. He still had to find this Paul guy. But he really didn’t want to leave such a beautiful pure sole, such as her, alone. She looked so peaceful lying in his lap. Where was he going to take her? Surely people are wandering where she went. Surely she had family. Surely. I mean they had to be missing her. He was being selfish again. Caring for himself instead of others. But why wasn’t she scared? Surely she had to have some type of fear infested deep into her soul. No one was immune to his rough edge image. No one. Certainly not. He sat for a while trying to convince himself of what seemed to be the impossible. Maybe she did feel the draw. Just then she nuzzled his arm with her nose. He glanced down as she opened her brilliant blue eyes. She smiled up at him, and he returned the polite gesture.
She stared up at him with lost eyes. How could a creature so sweet be descended from such demons? His velvet hazel eyes smiled at her as well as his lips. How tempted she was to reach up and caress his cheek, and lift her lips to his. ‘How would he react? Would he be mad? Only one way to find out,’ she thought. She did just as she thought, raising her hand to his cold hard cheek. But surprisingly, he lifted his to hers. He trailed his fingers down her cheek to her earlobe, and down her neck to her shoulders. She leaned forward, placing her eyes on his luscious lips. He grazed his lips across hers, breathing into her lungs the sweet cool air. She gasped out of shock and pleasure. He quickly created space between them. Staring deeply into her eyes apologetically. She forgave him quickly, pressing her lips to his, and leaning him back onto the dark cold floor. He surrendered for a moment. Letting her take over, but he soon took charge again. He began to kiss her back, setting them back upward. Silently rejecting the thought he knew she had. She bean to gasp at his cold tongue exploding in her mouth. He was engulfing her. From this moment on, she knew she belonged to him.
He once again created the dreaded space between them. She had begun to hate this space making he was so found of. She stared deeply into his unreadable eyes, now dark in green. He just smiled and laid her down onto his lap once more. She feel peacefully to sleep.
Chapter Three
Alice woke up, expecting to rub against his frozen body, but only found the soft feathered pillow she slept with. Her mind went to shock, in confusion of where she may be. But just as she raised up she saw her lovely father sitting in the arm chair by her vintage bed. He was snoozing as if her had been there a while. Then, she heard faint footsteps, getting louder every second. She laid back down, and shut her eyes.
“Paul?” the lady entered the room, and Alice realized immediately that it was Mary, there maid. “Mr. Sims? You sure have been in here a while. I don’t think she’s going to wake anytime soon.” Alice felt this was her clue. She pretended to wake up. Groaning lightly, and lifting her head, to look at her stunned father.
